This mountain biking and road cycling camp features four days of riding, coaching and clinics for riders of intermediate-advanced ability and three evenings of seminars and presentations with the Pros, Doctors, Nutritionists and Industry Reps. Riders will be split up according to ability and goals for the camp. Please note: Moab is home to some very technical, rocky riding. IF you are a true beginner to the sport, please know that we will do our best to accommodate but you may be grouped with riders that are above your ability. Professional rider and world famous commentator Bob Roll joins Aspen Sports Performance in beautiful Moab, Utah during the best time of the year to ride and relax! For four days and three nights, you’ll receive coaching from one of the greatest minds in cycling. Not to mention, you’ll be surrounded by the scenic beauty of Moab Canyonlands and the Colorado River.
This camp is designed to help athletes and cyclists of the intermediate-advanced level (ages 10 and above) with lifestyle, health, nutrition, fitness and training guidance to prepare and plan for staying fit year round.
ROAD CYCLING LEVELS
Each day road rides will have at least two different distances. Correct body positioning, riding in a group and overall fitness will be discussed each day. Riders should be able to ride for about 2-4 hours/day depending on weather and group dynamics.
MTB SKILL LEVELS
Strong beginners + intermediates (and all advanced levels) shall learn:
- Body positioning – most important on a bike!
- Crashing and injury prevention – how to crash with the least amount of impact
- Terrain awareness and visioning – looking ahead!
- Braking (in corners and rocky, technical terrain)
- Shifting + efficient use of a dropper post
- Technical climbing
- Overall bike handling
Intermediates shall learn all of above + the following:
- Trackstands (Including where and why you would use this maneuver on the trail)
- Wheelies (pedal + front + riding a wheelie)
- Bunny hops – when to use on trails
- Nose picks (for tight switchback turns)
- Downhill technical drops (big and small)
- Pedal drops
Strong intermediates/experts shall learn all of above + the following:
- Jumps – step ups/downs, table tops, pre-jumping I will introduce step-ups, step-downs, hips, tables, doubles, and pre-jumping
- Steep terrain drops
- Pre-turns (used in difficult corners and switchbacks)
- High speed off camber cornering
- Styling corners and rock faces
